I had an hour break in a 14 hour day of meetings and dashed to the beach (which luckily was near the meetings) to take photos. On the Grange jetty in Adelaide - I loved the rust on the old jetty against the sand, sea and sky. I did get some strange looks in my meeting clothes with bare feet and a camera on the beach
@macromover Thanks Julie. Normally I work an hour a way, but I thought I was lucky to have 2 meetings with only a 20 minute drive to the beach and a break. Got home after 10pm from work though!
That's a great shot, love the colours and perspective in this photo. The sky looks great, did you use a polarising filter, or is it really that blue? Whatever, the effect is terrific.
@golftragic Thanks Marnie. I had a UV filter on to protect the lens as I had just been shooting into the sun, but the sky was really this blue in this direction. Grey clouds were coming from the other direction, as in the shot back along the jetty in my alternatives album. Luckily there weren't too many people around as I crouched on the jetty taking photos of rust with a wide-angled lens - it would have given you a good humorous shot if you'd seen me.
@maggiemae Thanks Maggiemae. I was lucky to get the moment between walkers, joggers and dogs, but at this time of the year it can be managed thankfully
@flyrobin All sounds very sensible to me. Like you, I always have a UV filter on the front of my lenses for the same reasons. It's a great shot, and crouching down to include the rusty rails was definitely worth it. But I'm sorry I wasn't there to take a pic of you taking the pic! I know what you mean about the blue sky too. I've taken a lot of shots in the semi-arid regions of Victoria and NSW and they often show that intense blue up the top. I don't often use my polarising filter so am always interested to know if/how others do.
