The Gate.

The church of St Mary is situated in the old township of Rumworth, Bolton on high ground above the Church Brook.
Situated on a declivity and built in the year 1250, enlarged in 1831 and restored in 1884,
The inscription over the gate house reads: "The house of God, and this is the gate of heaven".
