100 years ago today Australia shot it's first gun. Therefore I thought I could commemorate the 100 years of the beginning of WW1 a day later! The middle picture is a cushion cover that I had framed many years ago after finding it in my grandmother's belongings. It came from her brother Charlie who went to war in Egypt. I have a photo of Charlie, along with 2 postcards he sent to his dear sister, my grandmother.
Lest we forget.
beautiful collage to commemorate the 100 years anniversary of the start of thr great war.....and precious memories and momentos of your familys involvment....beautiful work Denise...
This photo montage captures the sentimentality of remembrance as well as the ephemera I love pouring over! I look forward to seeing more from your part of the world and, in appreciation for the follow, will happily follow your photo journey as well!
@hermann@gigiflower Thanks for knd words, but must set you straight - i didn't frame the cushion cover myself, I had it professionally done! @julzmaioro@denisedaly@cejaanderson@lynnilou Thanks to all so much for visiting and leaving lovely comments :) @tellefella@darthkitty Thanks John & Kat. As soon as I heard it was 100 years and I walk past the cushion many times a day, i thought I should do something including my family connection. Thanks :) @ladymagpie Thanks for your kind words and Fav :) @Weezilou Thanks for the wonderful appreciation and the return follow. I'm enjoying your "diary" so hope you will enjoy mine from life here in Aussie - and yes we do get horrible weather here -specially on the southern coast where I am :) @pyrrhula Thanks for your lovely comments. I consider you to be living in a lucky country that was able to stay neutral throughout pointless wars :)
@denvern8v Yes Vanesa Australia fought in both world wars and others since. We were colonised by the British in 1770 but now we are an independent nation within the Commonwealth, but under the realm of the British Monarchy. Hope that helps explain why we participated in these wars. @eyesmile@lealady@sansjuan Thanks all for taking the time to look and appreciate some of our history as well as the personal side. Thanks
@kathiecb Thanks for your kind words Kathie. He does look very dashing! @denvern8v Glad you liked history and I was able to help you on some about Australia. So where do you live?
