Port Fairy - world's most livable city under 20,000 population. by gilbertwood

Port Fairy - world's most livable city under 20,000 population.

In 2012 Port Fairy was voted the most livable city under 20,000 pop by the International LivCom. Normally it's a sleepy little fishing village where wealthy people now have their holiday homes. However 39 years ago the community started a folk festival off the back of a truck! Littly did they know then what a success it would be - now 30.000 people visit the town over the long weekend :) It is still run by the local community involving many clubs who benefit so well from it. This shot is taken from the bridge we walked over everyday to attend the festival.
What a pretty spot.. can see why it was voted the most liveable..

Lovely placid scene. The water's not a flat as that here right now, adjacent to the North Sea.

This looks so much more inviting that the tent city. It looked like there was room for 20,000 in the tents.

Your capture looks so calm & serene. Do the festival goers overwhelm the town?
