These are some of the berries on my Curry Leaf Tree. I love the look of them, although I should pull them off so that the tree puts more energy into the leaves. These are the leaves that you buy in their dried form for curries. I use them fresh and there's nothing like the marvellous flavour. I often put a whole sprig into a curry.
I love this colorful shot. How nice that you have such a wonderful cooking ingredient at hand. Nothing like fresh from the source. Makes me so ready for spring to rework my herb garden.
also removal of those seeds may reduce the chance of those seeds being consumed by birds and broadcast far and wide. Murraya koenigii can be an invasive weed, a bit like its brother M. paniculata!
@girlie - I never doubted you for a minute Robin, your vast and varied knowledge of all things great and small in your garden is wonderful. It would be a pleasure to walk through your little patch of Australia and talk about the life that resides there!!!
@bobfoto Thanks Jason. Anytime you make it down this far it will be a pleasure. And I hope you don't have too much flow-on effect from the cyclone up there at the moment.
That's really nice to know! Love the colour of the berries. I only know the leaves dried, so I would love to use some fresh ones, is the taste really different?
Gorgeous shot Robin. Berries are so pretty, and I honestly have never thought about where curry comes from other than out of my spice jar. Very interesting!!
Such fabulous colours Robin, your garden must be a wonderful place to wander. I had not idea that curry came from the leaves of a tree - see you do learn something new every day ;)
You must make great curry, Robin. I had a huge pot of this curry plant given to me by my daughter's inlaws & I don't think they ever got berries. anyway I eneded up giving it back to them & now I just enjoy the curries they make. Love the reds against the greens.
@bobfoto Yes, Jason, I know about its being a pest and the berries have gone to meet their maker after their photoshoot - never let them stay on for long.
@corymbia @omabluebird @miranda Thanks Amanda, Susan and Miranda.
Thank you always for sharing this joy! :)
