Cruisin' by graemestevens

Cruisin'

Another shot from our excursion into the wilds yesterday - this was at the side of the "road" but I can vividly imagine the boys cruising the "street" of Puhe, Uriti and Okoki in this, the latest invention to hit these parts in an all out push by the big horseless carriage manufacturers of the day to bring some form of civilisation to these parts.
The beats would be pumping from the wireless, windows down, arms slung nonchalantly across the sills as they cruise slowly down the highways and bi-ways looking for tonights date. The echo of shotguns through the hills and valleys as they find success...
awesome! i particularly like the animals in the background... they make for a nice counterpoint :)

And the number plate is almost 'GUN'! Luckily the horse and sheep are still alive, though you never know how long. Great find and shot. Really like it in black and white, makes it more spooky.
September 13th, 2014
Ha.. great shot.. of an old classic..
September 13th, 2014
Classy ride
September 13th, 2014
@northy Thanks very much - those particular animals were the only ones that hadn't been shot yet...
@overalvandaan Thanks very much - I hadn't even noticed the number plate (I think I was too busy running for my life!)
September 13th, 2014
@julzmaioro Thanks very much - you could almost be talking about one of my selfies ;)
@bill_fe Isn't it though - they'd be the envy of all!
September 13th, 2014
Sweet ride:)
September 13th, 2014
@joemuli Isn't it...plenty of room in the back for the "ladies"
September 13th, 2014
just biding their time, i assume? ;p
September 13th, 2014
@northy They're probably gone by now - we were being watched when we took shots of this, so they probably vented their frustration after we made our getaway.
September 13th, 2014
Sam
What a great discovery!!
September 14th, 2014
@gigiflower I was quite impressed by it as well...it's about 50 metres from the boars of yesterday's shot...
September 14th, 2014
Great find, looks pretty mudded into the ground. Superb clarity in your image, nice.
September 14th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens Did the boars smell yukky?
September 14th, 2014
@bigugly Thanks very much - there's a big sink hole in the ground about 4 feet in front of this...I think it's slowly losing the battle to stay above ground
@gigiflower They'd been there so long I think the smell was but a memory
September 14th, 2014
Fantastic b&w, works well with this beat up truck. BTW, "redneckery" is already a commonly used verb in our household because of you. Perfect. Glad you survived your outing!
September 14th, 2014
Cool shot... but this baby is only cruising if you park her at the top of the car lot, uphill, so she can roll down. Your clarity and details are excellent.
September 14th, 2014
@kt8ird LOL, so to inflict my grammatical fabrications on your household but on the other hand, thank you very much indeed :)
@rosiekerr Thanks very much indeed...and I think you may just be right there...
September 14th, 2014
@kt8ird I meant sorry, not so...stoopid iPad.
September 14th, 2014
@graemestevens Got it! Still laughing about the blatant redneckery. Glad it's a global issue.
September 14th, 2014
Ha, great shot. It looks like it has settled there permanently. Very nice in b&w.
September 14th, 2014
Have you every tried to sling your arm nonchalantly across the window sill of your car? It is really uncomfortable! Nice, grungy shot. I too like the animals in the background.
September 14th, 2014
Fabulously grotty old truck, love it. Fav
September 14th, 2014
The number plate really draws my attention, very cool in B&W :)
September 14th, 2014
Wonderful old truck, I too like the animals in the background. FAV
September 14th, 2014
You paint a fascinating picture.......the guys are in town, get your glad rags on girls!! Old & worn out now just like the truck!
Tyres quite good surprisingly!
September 14th, 2014
Wow! That's seen some serious off-roading!
September 14th, 2014
Great word picture in the commentary and a striking b&w image.
September 14th, 2014
such a cool ride - and left to rust away with its memories - I am sure the blokes belonging to it were hot stuff hahahahaha
September 14th, 2014
or...............................do its owners even know it is missing LOL
September 14th, 2014
or.........................are the owners "missing" somewhere in an eerie log cabin
September 14th, 2014
great image - you be careful now
September 14th, 2014
Great capture! I am sure it has seen some wild times :)
September 14th, 2014
@creativefool Thanks very much indeed :)
@lorrainelouise Thanks very much...I'm still walking properly...
@annied All of the above I reckon...probably came out for a drive from the city 15 years ago...and thank you kind lady type person.
@taffy Thank you very much :)
@voiceprintz Yep, I think it's seen it's share of the action
@happypat The tyres surprised me as well, and thank you :)
@cathrinemitch Thanks so much, appreciated :)
@hermann Thank you very much indeed :)
@golftragic Thanks...nothing quite like a grotty truck
@eyeamlisa Thanks very much - I've never been a master if the nonchalant. I end up looking creepily uncoordinated...
@888rachel Thanks very much...appreciated :)
@kt8ird Oh I think it's alive and kicking everywhere...
September 14th, 2014
What an impressive photo and I love the B&W idea for this!
September 14th, 2014
@lilminimonka Thanks very much :)
September 14th, 2014
Nice image! And shot
September 14th, 2014
really like this. not a dead or decomposing animal in sight!
September 14th, 2014
now you could have sat in that and taken a selfie for batteries not included. I think everyone has flat ones this week
September 14th, 2014
nice find - cool shot
September 14th, 2014
Sue
Looks like it's had a little bit of bush bashing!
September 14th, 2014
Wow! That vehicle is is rough shape! Great find and capture - perfect in b&w!
September 14th, 2014
Some exploring, a frisson of excitement and a picture to post at the end of the day... sounds like a great road trip, Graeme.
September 14th, 2014
A bit of a doer uppa as my wife would say.
September 14th, 2014
You call the internal combustion engine 'civilisation'? Some civilisation that destroys itself!
September 14th, 2014
Evening. So little time to keep on top here..... You do paint a picture with words well!
September 14th, 2014
@wearing0 Thanks very much :)
@jaynspain Thanks very much - the dead boars were about 50 metres down the road...
@kali66 Yes, I could have, but I saw what was on the seat...
@shannejw Thanks very much :)
@redpants I think it's definitely seen some action...
@tabarlett Thanks very much indeed :)
@vignouse Thanks, it was a good day out and more than pleasant to not be taking photos of myself!
@chippy1402 Just a touch - my wife would say "you're not bring that thing in here" . With a few expletives thrown in for good measure.
@yrhenwr I use the term loosely...but having seen the rest if this back country area, anything is an improvement. There's not many places left where it's acceptable to ride your cousin to work in the morning and where you can have a divorce and still be brother and sister...
September 14th, 2014
@newbank Well hello there nice lady. I say keep up when you can...and thank you so much :)
September 14th, 2014
@graemestevens it's not the photos....it's you and @annied and @gigiflower can't keep track of you and all your madness.
September 14th, 2014
@newbank Oh I know...I struggle sometimes with that as well. It's all their fault - personally I'm well balanced, polite and completely sane at all times...but @annied and @gigflower are completely insane. I quite like it :)
September 14th, 2014
@annied @gigiflower @newbank ...perhaps eccentric is a better word. Are we rich enough to be eccentric, or poor enough to be insane?
September 14th, 2014
@graemestevens @annied is eccentric @gigiflower is insane
September 14th, 2014
@newbank @annied @gigiflower I agree completely. I think we're the only two normal ones actually...
September 14th, 2014
@graemestevens @newbank @gigiflower oh Graeme as if you would be satisfied with being normal - hahahaha - who are you trying to kid
and eccentric suits me just fine thank you lol
September 14th, 2014
@graemestevens @gigiflower @newbank
and Miss Ruth don't for a moment think that you are normal - trying to keep up with us means you are not hahahahaha
September 14th, 2014
@annied @newbank @gigiflower I'm more normal than you think - If you want to see how normal, head on over to todays shot and have a read. That should confirm just how normal I am. :))
September 14th, 2014
Sam
@newbank @annied @graemestevens Ummmmm helloooooo I am INSANE?????? Oh Ms Newbank Lass.........I think you have spent far too much time at Train Fairs this weekend. Comparing the word "insane" between my lovely self and Mr S...........Oh my goodness we are worlds apart!!! Thanks you Ms Annie for confirming Ms NewBanks NON normality ;)
September 15th, 2014
@gigiflower @annied @newbank I still maintain that I am completely sane. Ish.
September 15th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens @annied @newbank Yes *ish* I think can apply to all of us :)
September 15th, 2014
@gigiflower @annied @newcastle Of course, but definitely you lot more than me ;)
September 15th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens TWAT BOLLOCKS!
September 15th, 2014
@gigiflower LOL, yup.
September 15th, 2014
@graemestevens who is @Newcastle
? I may have upset lady @gigiflower what shall I do?
September 15th, 2014
Sam
@newbank @graemestevens Yes........you are in a lot of trouble Ms Newbank!!!
September 15th, 2014
@newbank @gigiflower oops, I may have been mentally AWOL for a while there. No surprise there, but please rest assured that you have in no way upset me or anyone else I know of. I do apologise most sincerely. I wonder who @newcastle is? I shall investigate.
September 15th, 2014
@graemestevens @gigiflower perhaps it's my nasty alter ego who has upset lady Sam?
September 15th, 2014
@newbank @gigiflower It could well be, she sounds like a nasty piece of work to be avoided...
September 15th, 2014
@graemestevens @gigiflower has been v quiet today I must tell mrs Newcastle off for upsetting her....perhaps if post something flowery and colourful she will feel better?
September 15th, 2014
@newbank @gigiflower It's worth a crack. She's been quiet a lot lately...I think we're losing her!
September 15th, 2014
@graemestevens so do I...... @gigiflower we miss you!!!
September 15th, 2014
@gigiflower @newbank We do miss you! But our aim will improve!
September 15th, 2014
@newbank @gigiflower That may have come out wrong... ;)
September 15th, 2014
@graemestevens it did when I read it......how was it meant to come out?
September 15th, 2014
@gigiflower will probably read it the way I did.....not that I'm suggesting anything about her character again....
September 15th, 2014
@newbank Exactly as you read it... :)) I'll probably be called TWAT BOLLOCKS again, which will at least give me a giggle for the day ;)
September 15th, 2014
poor truck...still has a load of wood in the back....
awesome find!
September 16th, 2014
@livvy Thanks very much :)
September 16th, 2014
Horses live so that cars may die. :-p
Your write-up made me chuckle. Like taken out of my youth… :-p
September 25th, 2014
@bankmann Thank you kindly, pleased to have delivered a chuckle
