Motion

You should all be immensely thankful to Mother Nature that she saw fit to send a southerly wind to my house today. This enabled me to take this shot for the One Night Stand challenge, with today's theme being "motion". The other option had been a photo of me on the toilet having a...well, a motion. All praise and thanks to Mother Nature.
This is actually the Pohutukawa Tree in my garden "gently" swaying in today's southerly - it was revealed yesterday in the "news" paper that Taranaki is the windiest region in New Zealand so far this year. Whoop whoop.
like thoughts motion, really precious picture

The enchanted forest
November 11th, 2015
@pepeblond Thank you very much :)
@northy I wouldn't go as far as enchanted...haunted would sit better ;)
November 11th, 2015
Hey you could add this to the f-word "filemot" challenge as well! ;) http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/26629/new-f-word-filemot
November 11th, 2015
@ahleena Thanks for that - done :)
November 11th, 2015
It looks like a magical forest, the kind that protects a castle with a sleeping princess. Fabulous.
November 11th, 2015
@kategoring Thanks - I woke her up, she wasn't happy.
November 11th, 2015

November 11th, 2015
Killer shot, Graeme! There's something really eerie and enchanting about it! :)
November 11th, 2015
Feels like it belongs in a dark fairy tale.
November 11th, 2015
the wind ( hot air ) mostly coming from you i imagine ;-)
couldn't help it - but you knew that already :)
i like this much
November 12th, 2015
great shot. The trees look a bit like Ents from LOTRs. I am very glad that you did not shoot (or show) the toilet...motion
November 12th, 2015
Cool!
November 12th, 2015
so many fingers and elbows, this brought out a whole other side to you, I like it
November 12th, 2015
@kali66 It's shocking isn't it? It's also my favourite tree - I have been known to sit under it in summer for a quite drink and some respite
@nanderson Thank you very much :)
@sheilaanne I'm glad as well - this is my favourite tree, and we have quite a few...but this one just...is
@annied I thank you - and can only wish that the southerly was hot...
@amandalockie Thank you very much - a dark fairy tale is something I could live with ;)
@juliedduncan Thank you so much - it took two ND filters but I got there in the end!
@carla42 Thank you very much :)
@vignouse Thank you very much sir - of all the trees in my garden this is the one that I choose to sit under the most often. With a wine of course.
November 12th, 2015
Wonderfully eery Graeme.
November 12th, 2015
trees are very accommodating like that
November 12th, 2015
@kali66 They do like to share their benefits
@golftragic Thanks very much :)
November 12th, 2015
Well done Mother Nature. I am dreading doing this one myself!
Very moody shot.
November 12th, 2015
@dibzgreasley Thanks very much - I've attempted panning once and it was so abysmal that I decided to not go there again in a hurry. I suppose practice makes perfect but this worked for me ;)
November 12th, 2015
@graemestevens Perfectly! I have no idea what I'm going to do if the wind doesn't arrive! Fudge it in post-pro??
November 12th, 2015
@dibzgreasley LOL, that's what I'd do, but don't tell anyone
November 12th, 2015
Whoop whoop! :) Your trees are as creepy as their owner - which is awesome. This is one cool looking tree - it does have a dark tale feel to it... And I am extremely grateful to Mother Nature.
November 12th, 2015
@kerosene I'm grateful to her as well - this has to be my favourite tree
November 12th, 2015
Thank you Mother Nature. This is a lot better than the other motion shot would have been. But I am just guessing :)
Beautifully processed as well.
November 12th, 2015
Oh goodness....thank you to the wind gods!! ;-)

The processing is great , almost feels like a night shot, and like that little bit of warmth you added.
November 12th, 2015
@pixelchix Thanks very much - I used a couple of ND filters and really liked the looked, so not too much processing involved at all
@karlow75 Thanks very much - no one needed to see the alternative!
November 12th, 2015
Love the lighting.
November 12th, 2015
I really like this - it's very eerie!
November 12th, 2015
OH! I hadn't looked under exif to see that it was a 13 second exposure! No wonder! We're due for some 50 mph winds today, so maybe I can try something similar. You always have such good ideas. :)
November 12th, 2015
This reminds me of the opening to the Adams Family. Excellent as always.
November 12th, 2015
very cool
November 12th, 2015
@mindeater Thanks very much :)
@deborah63 Thank you kindly :)
@juliedduncan It was less of an idea and more of a desperate situation ;)
@jammyb Thanks very much :)
@hermann Thank you very much :)
November 12th, 2015
So glad you picked this photo over your only other option for Motion!! When it gets windy here I head down to the beach to see if the kitesurfers are out in full force! I might have to content with a dog chasing a ball today!
November 12th, 2015
Fabulous angled shot...Fav
November 12th, 2015
Super cool capture!!:)
November 12th, 2015
@joemuli Thanks very much :)
@tonygig Thank you very much - always appreciated
@panthora My dogs can't even be bothered chasing a ball! And yes, I think everyone got off lightly when the wind decided to blow...
November 12th, 2015
Love the lighting and atmosphere!
November 12th, 2015
@stiggle Thanks very much :)
November 12th, 2015

@taffy Thank you very much - I think every one is more than a little thankful!
November 13th, 2015
This is beautiful, very mysterious light!
November 13th, 2015
@nitrogene Thank you very much :)
November 13th, 2015
I'm glad we saw this motion and not the other. Moody swaying.
