I was visiting a client at a rural job site today and when I arrived several of the tradies were standing around with this find, discussing it and trying to decided what it may once have been. Luckily for them I could reliably inform them that it used be a complete possum. I also informed them that I could, if they wished, take it away with me. They wished, I did so.
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
@kwind Thanks very much :) @jgpittenger Thank you very much :) @thomastoth There's not a lot (nothing) left on it, well aged @mzzhope Thanks very much :) @spikez I only know it was a possum because I already a possum skull...and now two ;) @pdulis You and me both - the collection increases by one
@paul10 Thanks very much - now I have a matching pair @yaorenliu This is only a small one - my other possum skull is about a third bigger @noko411 This one didn't need cleaning but the usual procedure with a "fresher" one is to start by burying it for between 2 - 3 months (depending on the size of the head/beastie), then dig it up and soak it in water with laundry powder (enzymes do their thang), then clean it and soak it in a strong bleach mix for a couple of days and then finally leave it in the sun for a few weeks. They don't really need preservation as such. @golftragic That's two of these that I have now... @joysabin Thank you very much :) @dyanstevens Thank you very much - it was the only productive thing to come out of the meeting!
@jack4john Thank you very much - and Mr. Skull found a new home @nicoleterheide Thanks very much - when I'm not grumpy I'm incredibly helpful ;) @taffy I should charge them for it... @kareenking Thank you very much :) @pools82 It's the other hobby... @maree_sanderson I wish I could answer that, and thanks :) @swillinbillyflynn Just like me :)
@annied It was the least I could do - I'm very helpful when there's something in it for me ;) @rexcomu Given that it's sitting on my kitchen window sill I hope it's very dead ;)
