Finn participated in his first Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby today. He decided he wanted to make his vehicle a Zeppelin - but since there is no separate category for airships, we put some wheels on it just for kicks. He designed it himself and did most of the decorating. We were very proud of him, he did a good job. He didn't win (I mean really, have you ever seen how SLOW those things moved?! ;) but he said he had a good time. I know David did - he thinks he might have actually enjoyed the whole thing more! It just goes to show, you are never too old....
Great looking car. My grandson, Dylan, has his first Derby coming up on Friday. I helped him do some of the original cutting and then my son-in-law helped him the rest of the way with the weights and painting. I can't wait to see what the other kids have and how much parents helped. You can usually tell. Believe it or not I still have my car from when I was in Cub Scouts over fifty years ago. I came in second. Maybe one of these days I will make it my pic of the day.
