The Cambridge skyline is famous for its beautiful old college buildings and churches. This is a slightly less well- known view; taken this evening from the third floor of the multi-storey car-park on my way home from a lovely get-together with some fellow writers and illustrators at the Arts Picturehouse Bar. There is a higgledy-piggledy mish-mash of just about every style and vintage of architecture jumbled up together. Even the sky looks as if it's been thrown together from left-over bits of other sky-related projects. The thing that looks like a campfire burning is a sculpture titled Between The Lines by Peter Randall-Page. It is conveniently placed between the back of the shopping centre and the car park, but looks very pretty lit up like this in the evening gloom.
Somehow I don't think this picture qualifies for this week's Simplicity theme! I'l try that tomorrow!
Amazing sky and the light infusing this is lovely. Re: the elephants - unfortunately (as they are brightening up the streets enormously) they are only on the streets of London till this Sunday - then they all get gathered up and most will be displayed together at the Royal Hospital Chelsea for a few days at the end of the month - then all over ... boo ...
I so enjoy hearing (reading) someone using the term "higgledy-piggledy". Never heard that until my friend from Twickenham said it about a the rooms (and uneven floors) in a very old house in York, and I thought it was the best descriptive word! We use in our household all the time now. :-)
