Remember the fallen! by homeschoolmom

Remember the fallen!

Memorial Day is when America honors and remembers those who fought and died to preserve our freedoms. Sunday afternoon, I went to the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery just outside Ft. Bragg, NC. Some of the flowers left by family members were very moving.
It is impressive to see all the flags from the various wars flying. In our old cemetaries (where my folks are buried) it is mostly WWI and II.

Always a sad occasion but yet it does your heart good when you see communities remembering.

@joansmor I loved the Revolutionary War memorial stuff when we were in NH.
@digitalrn While I was saddened by the lack of grass in the cemetery (It was not a pretty cemetery - guess we aren't the only ones having issue with growing grass here), there was hardly a headstone without a bunch of flowers and many were covered with flowers. It was heartwarming.

Brings tears to my eyes. We owe these troops a great debt.

If you would like to be paired again, I challenge you to try shooting a low key photo of a subject of your choice :)
