Party Popper

photo 62
My better half has built me a sound-activated flash trigger, and we used it tonight to capture this shot of a party popper exploding. I'm pretty happy with it. :)

Pic of the trigger:

This is awesome! I need a sound-activated flash trigger... I guess they are reasonably tricky to make? Maybe I will just put it on my photography wishlist for now! :)

@skatied I think it depends how you are with electronics. I was going to buy a ready-made one on eBay, but he suggested he give this a go first.
This is the arduino controller that the sound-detector/mic was plugged into:

The arduino was connected to one of my flash remote triggers.

Mic module used is this one:

@humphreyhippo My other half isn't too bad with electronics... I may ask nicely and see if he is willing to take on the challenge :P Thank you for the info! Also, your husband sounds like a handy guy to have around! :D

@skatied He's very supportive. I've asked him to do some mad things for photography. Haven't got to levitation photopgraphy yet though. ;)
Get your other half to look up arduinos. Lots of info on the web about them.

@jlhopgood He's ordered more types of sensor. Lots of potential here, me thinks. :)
