Large White larva about to pupate. It's suspended from the silken thread by hooks on the cremaster at the tail and has a silk girdle at the "waist." Enzymes and imaginal discs are already transforming caterpillar into butterfly. The forelegs and body have shortened and become thicker. Soon the skin will be shed leaving a new shape - the pupa which will harden and for about 2 weeks the caterpillar body will be altered to create the butterfly. Magical metamorphosis.
