That was more a torture than a train journey. From 2pm on Saturday to 8am on Sunday, in just 3 different trains.
From Minden to Hannover (about half an hour), Hannover to Munich (5 hours) and then we took the City Night Line from Munich to Rome (about 12 hours).
City Night Line normally means that you can sleep inside the train but it was SO narrow (2 km² for three people) and it shaked too much for my stomach so I got sick and dizzy :/
But I finally managed to sleep for like 3 hours or so :D
But flying would've been even worse for me as anxiety sufferer - sometimes I'm glad to be Continental European :D
This picture was taken from the window close to Munich :)
Nice shot of someone waiting on the platform. It does give the feel of someone bored with his wait for a train.
Sleeper Trains sound good in theory, but the reality is a bit different! I took a sleeper from New Delhi to Jaipur in India. Not only was it very bumpy and loud, but there were a few too many 6-legged passengers crawling around for me to actually get any sleep. LOL
Jule, this is a cool shot. I seriously love the composition, and that the cars are whizzing by in the background while you are waiting, patiently, for the train to come and pick you up. There is something ironic about that, and I find it very funny.
