Weather Vane

Due to a non-stop sequence in meetings, I had to take today's photo on my way home instead of at lunch. I dropped off the highway and onto the East Side of Providence in search of a shot, and I spotted this beautiful copper domed cupola complete with a clock and a weather-vane. It looks like this is one of those clocks that's accurate twice daily since it was approaching 4:00 PM when I took the shot. The building is located in Wayland Square and it's one of a series of apartments that were built in the early 1900s as this area recovered from the economic downturn brought about by the Civil War and Reconstruction. Today's detour was quite fortuitous in that I spotted a number of other candidate shots over several blocks right in this area.

I kept the post processing to the barest minimum today. A color pop filter brought out the depth of the sky and the copper dome. A sharpening technique using the high pass filter in soft light blend mode was applied. I toned the saturation down a hair, and applied a slight levels adjustment.
