Belfry in Belknap by kannafoot

Belfry in Belknap

Across the street from the Belknap School shown in yesterday's photo is the Belknap Community Church. The church is mentioned in the historic register for this section of Johnston, but there are no dates or details listed. Given the Victorian style of the church, and the similarities between the two belfries, it is safe to assume that the church is of late 19th century origin. This section of Johnston, known as Belknap Village, is named for the Belknap family that was prominent in town government in the late 1750s. Abraham Belknap was the first Town Sergeant when the Town was incorporated in 1759. I plan to show more of this Victorian style church since it typifies 19th Century New England.

Post Processing was a bit different today. The sky was a really flat grey, so hoping to find even a hint of detail in the clouds I ran this through Redynamix. The sky really was "blah". I used a deep blue photo filter to tone the luminosity down a notch. Saturation was lowered a hair, and a slight levels adjustment was added.
Beautiful composition!
