Kintsugi is a Japanese art form in which breaks and repairs are treated as part of the object's history.
Yesterday my lens fell and broke. Thankfully the damage is in a place that does not stop the lens from working. However I can not put a hood on my lens anymore.
Normally I would have been angry at myself and need to replace the imperfect item. However after recent reassessment of life itself, I have decided to embrace the Japanese art of Kintsungi. Unfortunately I didn't have any Gold Powder to mix with the super glue to make it pretty!
My lens however, bears the scars of its 11 year life (it does not look pretty) but shall go on for another few more years still. Reminds me of a song by Guy Sebastian "Battlescars"
Today I am thankful for...
1. Superglue that alowed me to repair my lens.
2. A different perpestive on life and damaged goods.
Yikes! I would have been very angry with myself. But I agree with you, better take life as it comes than worrying over something that cannot be undone.
