Maple buds by kiwichick

Maple buds

We are finally seeing some signs of spring in our little town. I took this same photo last year although it was about a week later. Here is the link to last years photo. http://365project.org/kiwichick/365/2011-05-07 This week our assignment is on macro photography and although I don't have a macro lens you'll be seeing lots of close ups from me this week. Let me know what you think as I'll have to choose 4 to hand in and 1 of those to get marked on!

Here are a couple more from today. Please choose a favourite :)

Also thanks once again for all those who faithfully view and comment on my photos. I have had no time to browse lately and feel bad about it. I will make some time soon to have a good catch up!!
Love the focus! Beautiful.

Beautiful photo - such lovely, soft colors, and I really like the contrast the background provides.

this is my fav of the three you've posted. I like the depth of the shot with a foreground and Background detail. the soft muted tones of this are lovely. I'm not sure where you assignment thing sits on cropping the images you submit etc, but if could, I'd crop the left negative space so that it more or less squared off the image (almost like the front stem/twig were reaching from bottom right corner to top left corner...). However if you were restricted to this full standard type framing/no crop, I'd probably have shifted myself (the lens) just a little to the right, so that there was a bit of a gap between the two stems/twigs and that they filled the frame a little more (focus not to be 100% in the very middle). The vignette is also a nice finish to the shot, as it compliments the soft tones.

Hope thos comments help you out - there is a rare 'kat of old' massive novel written :P don't get around to that very often these days.

@wadey Thanks so much for the comments. I like this one two but it bugs me that I the back bud is too close to the front one. I did crop this one a little and I can change the crop so that the middle (focused) bud is not centred. There is one more that I like but I may have to post that a different day. I've got more for today, I think I'll be out every day so by the end of the week there will be lots to choose from! Oh, and today it's raining! Yay!

@kiwichick oh no to the rain... I was estatic because we FINALLY had sunshine!

@wadey Actually I'm happy it's raining as I can get shots with water drops on it too! But normally I'm not so happy to see the rain. I've changed my crop and I do like it much better. Thanks for the suggestions.

@kiwichick ha ha too much rain has made me have tunnel vision, SUN = GOOD, RAIN = BAD :( but yes 100% agree about the water droplets...
Happy to help

Really loving the tones in this one Lesley. I'm with Wadey = croppity crop so the angle of stem is reaching towards the left corner.
