At the end of our walk I was totally knackered (too many stairs I reckon!), and being so tired I made a really dumb decision to try and cut an orange while it was in my hand....and the end result was that I badly cut my left index finger right down to the bone. Blood everywhere :-/ We found the nearest hospital at Katoomba & had it seen to. But unfortunately, 6 weeks + after the incident, my finger is still really painful, & totally numb from the top joint to the tip. It turns out that I have severed nerves & tendons :-/ Not good, and it feels so very weird. No more knives for me after a long hike!
Oh dear. David had a similar accident about 30 years ago. He still has no feeling in his finger. We were mopping up blood in the house for weeks afterwards. Kept finding splashes everywhere.
Must have been so painful. good job we have lots of fingers to compensate for the missing ones isn't it.
