June 18th, 2014 ~ outtake

Critique welcome!!! I'm posting this one even though it is noisy as heck and the lighting on the subject is waaaaay too dark because I'd love advice on what sort of settings would make for a sharper, more contrasted photo. Thoughts?

Taken backstage at the Montreal Fringe Festival.

The noise isn't that disturbing. Maybe a flash could help.
The picture is interesting though, good work.

@d_lopes Thank you Deyvid. I haven't yet ventured into the world of external flash, but certainly something I'd like to start exploring. I wonder, though, about how to balance the candidness of the situation with the disruption of light popping! :? Maybe it is my shyness that I need to work on as much as anything else. :)

@d_lopes I love that mirror and took a bunch of shots to try to capture the interesting split frame that was happening. I'm a little disappointed about my lack of technical chops, but I guess it's all about growing! heh!

Oh, so it was a candid shot. Yes a flash would of been distracting. Street photography is hard without good lighting in the scene. One way I do candid shots, is to first look for a place with nice lighting and composition, then hope that some subjects show up.

@d_lopes Good idea, Deyvid. I could stand to get a small reflector too.
