Today, over Brisbane, we had a formation of 16 Hornets take flight in formation! I saw it as I crossed through a car park; and pulled out my camera just in time to get four shots off... this one being the best one.
Writer, poet, artist and prolific reader.... that's me.
I'm a collector of books, vinyls, coin purses and strange handbags... that's me too.
Otherwise, I love...
Yay! I saw this today too. I was in the middle of a class, heard them approaching and got the kids out in time to see them fly directly over the school. Very exciting! Do you know why it happened?
@karendalling@semoor@digitalrn@cmt2812 thanks guys for your lovely comments. I was walking across Arndale Shopping Centre carpart near the Service Road when I heard them approach... it was great that my camera was on hand. And you wouldn't believe it! This - along with the other four - were all blind shots as I had my sunnies on! :D
@cmt2812 These Hornets flew in formation across Brisbane - first West to East, then up to Noosa and from North to South along the coast - to thank Brisbane for our support. Also to open the Gold Coast 600 down the coast... from the reports I've heard made it even better when they flew overhead!
When I took this shot, it was around 10:20am... and with very little winds. A great day to fly a Hornet!
Awesome shot Lyn - I thought I would shine a bit of light on the reason for the flyover. It was to show Brisbane the new squadron of Hornets. The 16 planes flew from Amberley RAF Base, East to West over Brisbane, and down the Gold Coast, then out over Moreton Bay & up to Noosa where they picked up another 4 planes. The 20 of them then flew in formation North- South over the city, then back to Amberley near Ipswich.
Wish I'd seen them. Lucky you Lynda.
