Grandma's House - As I Remember It

Yesterday, I showed you guys what my Grandma's house looks like now.

Today, I went to Mum's house and dug around looking for photos of Grandma's house as it used to look when I was kid... and this is what it looked like before people fixed it up.

I love old houses... but why do they have to make them unrecognisable able to previous tenants and relatives? I remember Grandma's house like this... it always smelled like a bakery when she opened the door. The side verandah always had stuff to do in it (when really it was filled with junk) and every spider and lizard in the garden was called Fred by Grandpa - because he'd forget all their names otherwise.

And we used to race down that footpath on a home-made go-cart Grandpa did up for us. It had no brakes and we wore no helmet or pads... and it usually had a few redback spiders on it he'd remove before we jumped on it.

By the time we had to sell the place, the redbacks took over the shed down the back (that building in the bottom right photo) and so had the termites... but our Grandparents' house a fantastic place.
great series of shots

Change is never easy. I know in the very near future we will be selling our home, and it has been in our family for 80 years. The memories run deep and I twill be hard to see it leave our name.
