Challenge: A Favourite Thing

Up and at the polls by 6am. If not over, at least 200 people waiting when the doors opened at 7am. My chief once said if we ever got her a trifold hat and bell, she would announce when the polls were open. I delivered ;) She honored her promise. Understandably, I could not take a photo of that moment.
Unlike my former life, people I assisted understood why I was holding my salad, attempting to get a bite in between questions. There were snacks, but no one really had a chance to sample them throughout the 13 hours we were open.
Ballots finally bagged, ready to be delievered and paperwork completed at midnight.
2,251 people came through the polling place I worked today. Combined with early voters, unofficial turnout for this election was over 88% in my city.
Win or lose, with numbers that huge, these kind of days are one of my favourite things.

Thanks for your efforts! I love election day, even if the people I vote for lose. You have better "I Voted" stickers than we have.

Thank you. The only "job" I've had where we all say "we aren't in it for the money" and everyone actually means it! HA
We had a Chicago DA and his wife as observers all day. We really aren't allowed to chat or interact, but they did say before they left around 9:15pm that they never knew so much went into an election and they were really impressed with how we ran things. That was really nice of them to say.
