This place serves really yummy ice cream and cakes... took the kids here this afternoon... this shot is a bit random, but i liked the light, shadows and contrasts, and it's been a bit of a sucky day otherwise - this is all I've got... I'm having lots of internet and puter problems today, so might not get to looking at everyone's pictures and commenting tonight... we'll see...
Thank you so much for looking and commenting on my ghostly selfies from yesterday...
That was a lot of fun! I just went through your album! You have a great eye for street photography, Northy! I can't believe how many shots I've missed of yours! Shame on me! So now to give you your challenge...
Something I've wanted to do myself but I've never been pushed or had the patience is alphabet photography. With your talent, eye, and environment I can't wait to see what you come up with! The only rule is you can't use any letters! Only objects that look like letters. Your word can be what ever you want and as long as you want. Good luck, Northy! :)
Great shot Northy. Like a movie scene. I love the light.
Just saw the challenge that Jerry set for you. That's a good one that should have you looking all over the place for odds and ends. Fav
@orangecrush OH EM GEEE! ok - when i looked at this post this morning i thought: "cool - fun and different, but how difficult can that be?" bahaaaaaa... serves me right... after spending the day angsting about all sorts of aspects of this challenge, i'm thinking, this one is gonna twist my brain proper!!! tx!!! :D
Love this. Great feel. Great pov, different layers of lighting and movement. The contrast of conversations, the animated couple in the front, the more serious couple behind. Past them, a couple looking for the staff and their check. In the high key distance, a romantic moment during lunch as the lone man of shadows exists unnoticed by all.
Ok, maybe my imagination is carrying on a bit. Sorry about that. Still, fantastic capture. Fav
I'm actually curious about the original, was it one of those photos that a year ago we would have deleted? How did it look in colour? Did you know it was good when you took it?
@cdonohoue the ice cream is VERY scrumptious :) it's actually a very lovely airy spot... not really moody at all - guess that's all in the processing!
@monika64 ha! good questions... a year ago i would have been shooting on fully automatic, i would have been aiming for my kids and the oncamera flash would have fired... so this photo would have been a spectacular camera fail ;p did i know it was "good" when i took it? well, i was experimenting with this composition... when i started, the couple at the far right hadn't come in yet... when they came in, i thought it would add to the comp and then loved the fact that i was able to include the waiter walking down towards them... so i would say that i knew i got what i wanted, but it still felt a bit random for me so i was quite surprised by all the positive response... the colour looks pretty much like this... just - in colour! i can post it to flickr with a link if you really want to see... it still has the soft quality of the b&w...
