Studland Coastline

Well, we ventured "out" out today - down to the coastline near Studland. This particular peninsular is most famous for the pillars of chalk know as Old Harry Rocks (and the sadly lesser known "old Harry's Wife", a bit further out to sea)

Unfortunately our desire to stay away from tourists, plus the way the light was falling made a 'decent' shot of this famous rock formation unachievable. Meandering around the headland and heading back west found today's image - the Pinnacles, accompanied by some fairly delightful cloudage above... :)

This is a three row composition of 26 images, stitched in Lightroom and only subtly edited. I was under considerable pressure from the family to leave it in colour, as the blues, whites and greens were quite striking by themselves - however this screamed monochrome for me, and I'm happy with this.

We took the hound along on her first trip in the car since we got her a few months ago, and (aside from a relatively small misdemeanor) in general she excelled herself. The discovery of Dog Ice cream in a delightful farm tea shop close to the car park cemented this being a "Good Day Out" in her eyes

Thanks for looking

I like the feeling this has in B&W. It lends an austerity and sense power that I don’t think a color version would do that. That must be a huuuuge file with 26 images combined. Bravo!

I have Kayaked to Old Harry Rocks and familiar with this area. This scene is suited to B&W and a great perspective.
