To understand this nature area you`ve to know the soil is sand. And ,Sand is a very poor soil to grow. But as we have much rain there are plants that can grow on it . After many grows, and dies, there will become a blanket of humus and peat. On this trees can grow . The trees continue the humus and tied it by there roots . As soon the trees are gone the landscape will become like a dessert as the rain will wash out the humus. (This happen in many countries where there is a lot of wood cut downs ) Gladly there is no other commercial bound for it so we keep it nature.
The area is bigger than I can walk on one day so I only do a (small) part of it .
In this area there are several small lakes. We call them : a Ven or (small) Vennetjes
Thanks to my fellow 365'ers, I'm going to be smarter. I didn't know that was how peat was made. This looks to be a lovely place to walk. Probably lots of wildlife in the water, on the land and in the air. Thank you. Nice image.
Good shot. Its the natureof lakesto be temporary (in nature's timescale) as pioneer plants move in colonize and then other plants growand 'invade'the lake
