The Great Forest Park Balloon Race celebrates its 42nd anniversary this year. It claims to be the most well attended single-day balloon race in the country. and one of the few that originates from the middle of a city. There certainly were lots of people out tonight, to celebrate the "balloon glow," where they line up the balloons, inflate them and ignite their hot air (on signal). Folks turn out for the carnival atmosphere, picnic and snap lots of pictures. I need to be taller, so I don't have to crop out so many heads. :) The race is tomorrow!
Thanks to all who take time to view, stop by, comment... I enjoy and appreciate every one.

Instant fav Rosie!! I so want to photograph a balloon festival. I went to one in Albuquerque years ago and didn't know enough about photography to take these kinds of shots. Yours are both brilliant.
@taffy This was my first attempt. If you are not skilled in speedy camera setting (yes, me), it is helpful to have a very sweet teen to help you change lenses. Bribery... dinner out.
Thanks for visiting my project today. Being from Albuquerque, I'm interested in other balloon events I see on 365. Here is one from my friend Kim from this morning: http://365project.org/ishutter/365/2014-09-20
