The baldacchino (canopy) at the front of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, where my teen's high school graduation ceremony was held. It is almost impossible to do this space photographic justice.... housed inside is one of the largest mosaic (glass) collections in the western hemisphere. The entire space is covered in mosaic... glittering light, everywhere you look.
Sorry I have been so absent over the last week; gathering college kids and graduating high schoolers, along with work and family visiting, has been pleasantly time-consuming.
10/1/2020: Finished year 7 (!), with continuing gratitude towards this amazing community. Based in St. Louis, MO. Regular worker-bee and self-taught photography dilettante....
Rosie, this is remarkable! I thought it was a European structure when I stopped for a quick look at the Trending Page. Gorgeous and so well done for such a huge space. Fav.
Fav, Rosie! A beautifully captured image with so many different architectural features harmoniously composed in your photo. Can't wait to get to St Louis now!
I photographed in that space a couple of years ago. I ended up doing a lot of detail shots because the whole is so overwhelming. Congratulations on the graduation, and the great photo.
That's just a spectacular venue! It's my loss that I was never there during my college years; how I'd love to photogrph it now! Like Taffy,I was sure it must be European! How lucky we are then to have this in the heartland of America!
On the contrary: I think you have done it perfect justice. This image and the one of the dome are beauties, both of them - very sharp, well composed and well exposed.
THIS is the photo I wanted to have taken today, but I didn't! Must go back! I see where my earlier comment indicated my desire to see this and thanks to you, it became a reality!
