Recently returned from visiting @taffy and Jim, where we enjoyed their company and helped them hang up some of the fascinating art which they have accumulated in their many travels.
This handsome marionette is The Monkey King, of Chinese and Buddhist lore. It was fun to untangle his strings and get him set up properly. He would spin around to enjoy the view... I had to bring him back around for this portrait, only for a moment, so he could spin around again, looking out the window, seemingly glad to be free from his box.
10/1/2020: Finished year 7 (!), with continuing gratitude towards this amazing community. Based in St. Louis, MO. Regular worker-bee and self-taught photography dilettante....
This is perfect!! I love how it turned out. He's an interesting (and not just a little scary) vision hanging there -- sometimes he seems to be watching us, and other times more interested in the view. There have to be currents we aren't aware of from the heat (I hope!!). Thanks for posting this -- it's a cool shot.
