Nick: “Now, Jeff, please let me do all the talking.”
Jeff: “Ok, Nick, leave it to me. I will keep my mouth shut. Hello, pretty lady! How gorgeous you look in that outfit! Are you busy this evening?”
Lady of the house: “Thank you, that’s so kind of you. I am on night shift this evening.”
Nick: “Please excuse him, madam. He is just trying to be friendly.” To Jeff, below his breath :” Shut up. Don’t make a fool of yourself – and of me too.”
Lady of the house; “In what can I help you?”
Nick: “Madam, we are travellers, coming from very far away. Some people across the road told us this is the place we should go to for some information. We come from Malta, a very small island in the Mediterranean and we are looking for gulls in this area.”
Lady of the house: “Oh, from Malta! Are you Jeff and Nick? If so, I read about you in the Geelong Advertiser. You must have come to meet our Harold and Ethel!”
Nick: “Yes, madam. You are right. Can you give us some directions?”
Lady of the house: “Not only that, I will be happy to take you there myself. Give me a minute so I change into something better.”
Nick and Jeff together: “ That is so very kind of you. We will be very grateful.”
Lady of the house goes inside to change while Jeff and Nick wait outside.
Jeff: “Did you look at that lady closely, Nick? I’m sure I have seen that lady before. What do you think?”
Nick: “For once I am with you, Jeff. I think I know where we’ve seen her.”
The lady comes out, ready to leave.
Jeff: “Excuse me, madam. Your face is not new for me.”
Lady of the house: “Sure. How can it be new, I’ve had it for over 50 years now.”
Jeff: “No, I mean, you must be .............”
Nick: “You must be one of those who take part in that kind of photography project”
Lady of the house: “In fact I am.”
