Great balancing - your daughter's done a great job there! I seem to recall the bloke you mention was on Coast - very impressive - my kids try to recreate his sculptures too.
This is quite nice, Sean. It never occurred to me that this was an art form. When we see stacked rocks here, we call them cairns, and they are used to mark a trail so we can find our way back. This is a clear and crisp photo of a great work of art. We particularly like that she has included the rust-colored rock, although each of them are very attractive. Nice job on both your parts!
Great shot - but don't take this the wrong way - you've got same problem as me - pesky dust on sensor that shows up on blue skies. But I do love this shot! :-)
Gorgeous colours, I've only ever seen this is NZ. On hiking trails in the UK the cairns are usually just heaps of rock but this is very artistic, I like that it's only function is to please the eye.
Very cool especially against the blue blue sky. Last time we were at Preah Khan (in the Angkor Wat park) someone had done some stone balancing which looked mysterious among the ancient ruins.
@pictureitbig No offence taken, sorry it has taken so long to get back to you, chasing my tail a little!! It is on the lens I think, as I do not get it when shooting with other lenses. You have spurred me to give the lens a clean and see what happens.
Wonderful stack! Love the bold colours with the bright blue behind it. Super Job!
Adrian Grey's work it amazing - can't believe some of it balanced, especially with sea breezes to counter them! Thanks for the link, it's given me a whole new set of ideas for next time!!
@filsie65 No probs. We had some fun doing this. Glad you liked the link, he is amazing, and it is true, you do feel the stones balance as you move them. They make good triptych photos too, I think I have one somehwere in my other album around the same time.
