Another of my Loughborough Backstreets series, which seeks to introduce shots from the unseen and mundane areas of town, concentrating on form and texture.
I took a shot further along the street a couple of weeks ago, and this place has several more to offer up before the well runs dry.
Anyone who saw Michael Portillo's Great British Railway Journey's vist to Loughborough last week will have seen him visit this factory. There hase been bellmaking in the area since the 14th century, and the Taylor Family have been making them since 1784.
I appreciate the response to my B+W shots of the last few days, which as always, is extremely gratifying. The colour version of my main shot yesterday is in my second album today, looks nice!
A busy day, fixing computers, briefing a designer onnew projects, placing a several new orders with my Chinese suppliers and the school run both ways.
Rebecca is heading off to Austria with her girlfriends for 4 days skiing at some unearthly hour in the morning, so my annual Daddy Daycare stint begins. Trips to the cinema and football planned, along with pizza and curry teas!!
Very gritty & characterful image....I missed that episode of the railway so missed this...a bell making company, how interesting. A very subtle door for a work place...everything shines & looks well maintained. A long established firm.....
love this Sean, would really love more detailed shots too as I'm finding the reflected and distorted areas fascinating, gorgeous composition though. Enjoy your pizza and curries - boys alone!
This is nice - gritty feel to the shot, but the buildings look almost domestic compared to the Whitechapel bell foundry. I go past it on the bus on some of my wanders, must go and take pictures
