Another one of those days where the weather outside makes me want to stay inside. After thinking about this week's silhouette theme for a while and wondering how I could make that work I came up with this idea.
This is the American Sign Language symbol for 'I love you' made up of the first three letters of each word. The 'I' is the little finger held up alone, the 'L' the thumb and index finger held up form an L and the 'Y' is the little finger and thumb held up to make a Y with the wrist. There is overlap between the symbols making this unique symbol. I brought out a light table belonging to one of the boys, put the camera on a tripod and made the shot. Not perfect, but not bad for a first attempt at something like this.
I took a couple of sign language courses in college giving me enough knowledge to have helped out in a couple of situations but not enough to carry on an actual conversation with someone.
Edit: cropped and played with the temperature to bring the color down from bright white.
Often when Liz and I arrive in new countries, children want to have their photos taken and being really cool, they strike poses with various finger signs. Trouble is I never know what they mean.
