Oh HAHAHAHA!!! Who knew collages were this much trouble???? Found a quick tutorial on PS collages and put this together, but OMGOSH!!!!! Poor Henry is SO skewed!!!! But this one is not about the pathetic collage attempt!
What this one IS about is the lighting, once again. In the pic on the left, I used the flash exactly the same as I did last night: 45 degrees down from the straight -up position. Harsh light and shadow. In the pic on the left, I used a leftover white posterboard to bounce the flash off. Flash was still at the 45 degree angle, pointed to the left, which is obviously where the posterboard is, and I see much softer light and no shadow. And yes, the one on the right is blurry. Oh well.
Theres a lot more to clear focus than just light I've found. Faster speed captures the subject but aperture is also just as important. He's a great dog - - a beagle?
You need to point the flash upwards and bounce it off the posterboard above and onto the subject not downwards. I think that is what you are doing, but not sure.
