The teenager has FINISHED his Senior Project! The entire household can breathe a sigh of relief! Each year, the seniors must put together a portfolio of their life. There are 10 required chapters that go into this project with the subjects varying from the day of their birth, to who they are now, who their friends are, graduation, motivation, the future, etc.... Each chapter has a significant writing assignment, and throughout the album they include photos and mementos. The album ends up being approximately 100 pages, contained in a 3-inch looseleaf binder, and covered in fabric that is supposed to represent their personality. The biggest question mark of this year has been what in the world to cover the binder in. WHAT fabric would POSSIBLY reflect his personality ... then, last week, last minute, in a flash of brilliance, we all figured out that the PERFECT cover would be the d@#* uniform the poor child has worn for the past 12 years. No kidding, his required uniform thru 4 different schools in 2 different states has been khaki pants and some form of that blue knit shirt. And tho some of the schools have allowed another color to be included, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM has included that light blue color! May I just say: I am OVER that light blue knitted shirt!!!!
But here he is, in his last days of high school, holding open the notebook that reflects his life. He's smiling, happy, proud, eager to get to college ... and you can't see Mom, behind the camera, trying to get him to chat so we have an informal pose, snapping away ... and holding back tears. What happened? Where did the time go?
I hope my child looks back on today
And sees a mother who had time to play.
There will be years for cleaning and cooking,
But children grow up when we are not looking.
Tomorrow I’ll do all the chores you can mention
But today, my baby needs time and attention.
So settle down cobwebs; dust go to sleep,
I’m cuddling my baby, and babies don’t keep.
Ok. Now I really am crying.
My Get Pushed challenge this week was studio photography. Does this count?
Awww. Trying to remember if this is your youngest. This picture exudes the joy of completion. (and probably the joy of ditching -- repurposing -- that shirt)
My daughter is also finishing high school this year, but she's taking a year out to concentrate on her Showjumping before she goes to university. I'm dreading her going.
