Last night was our last night at Hatteras. For this trip anyway. When we lived in NC, we considered the entire Outer Banks to be too cold, not tropical enough, a place for northerners to go south who "didn't know any better". So now we've been in MD for nearly 11 years, 8 hours north of where we grew up, and we know the meaning of northern beaches, and suddenly the Outer Banks are southern and tropical!
It's been a fantastic weekend! We stayed an extra night and got up early this morning to break camp, head home and be at work by lunchtime. We'll definitely return! Lots to explore, the beaches ARE warm, and the sand is powdery. Just the way we like them.
