Located at the corner of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue, the Chrysler Building is a classic example of Art Deco architecture and considered by many contemporary architects to be one of the finest buildings in New York City (and I wholeheartedly agree). Construction began in 1928 and when it opened in 1930, it was the world's tallest building (until the Empire State Building was completed in 1931). From 1930 through the mid-1950's, it was also Chrysler Corporation's world headquarters.
