Josh and I had lunch at my favorite place to eat in NYC, Pick-A-Bagel, located in the Gramercy section of Manhattan, on 3rd Avenue and 23rd Street. I grew up in NYC so I know what a real bagel is. This is the real thing, the authentic New York bagel experience. I found this place during my June visit by the aroma drifting out of the restaurant on to 3rd Avenue. The first time I went in, I had deja vu - it felt like being back in the Bronx in the 1960's. I ordered a salt bagel, plain - the true test. It was beyond perfect. Their bagels have the perfect consistency - soft and warm on the inside, with a perfect crust. This time I had a toasted garlic bagel with whitefish salad. Best lunch I have ever eaten!
I love the Gramercy neighborhood of Manhattan, it has a funky, cool feel to it.
Tomorrow we head back uptown for more Midtown Madness.
Update: Went to the doctor for a follow up visit yesterday. Feeling much better, I'd say I am back to 90% of the old me!
what a beautiful place to grow up in i would love to visit New York Danny maybe all being well in the new year if my lottery numbers come up lol keep on dreaming eh
I love bagels, we have a small local shop near me run by a Jewish couple and I reckon their bagels (for outside of NY) are pretty good too! Pleased you are only lacking 10% of the old you... soon be back to 100%!
I always try to have lunch somewhere like this when I'm in the US, breakfast too!! Great looking place, lunch sounds fantastic.Glad that you are nearly over it Danny, me too!
Am enjoying your photos - I lived in NJ for a year and used to head to Manhattan most weekends. I'm sure I've been to this Bagel place - maybe a romantic memory but it works!
So happy to hear you doing much better!!!
