Castelvecchio (literally "old castle") was built by the Scaligeri, the dynasty that ruled the city in the Middle Ages.
Going forward to more recent times, World War II causes serious damage to the castle. In 1945 the Allies bombed the eastern wing of the castle, while the fleeing Germans blew up the bridge.
After the war, in a few years, from 1948 to 1951, the bridge was rebuilt and a new room destined to the concert Hall. In the years 1957-1964 the interiors of the castle have enjoyed a wonderful restoration of a valuable museum exhibition.
I already took others photos of the castle but never from this angle and by night. So, I hope you're not tired by this one.
This is my second night shot. It's strange I posted so few night shot in two months. In the next days I will try to take others shot like this.
