In my walkabout through the province of Viterbo I saw some wonderful places and one of them is the town of Tuscania and all the surroundings.
The church of San Pietro is located on a hill. The front of the church overlooks a grassy area between the palace and the three mighty towers, memory of the strategic importance of the area.
The hill of San Pietro was the seat of an ancient Etruscan city and it is possible that the current basilica was founded in the eighth century on the ruins of a pagan temple and it underwent several architectural changes over the centuries.
