The crypt

Outside the church I talked with two friendly locals about the others attractions in the area. They gave me lots of informations and it was very nice to talk with them. Now I have a lists of places to visit next time I will be there.

The crypt of the church of San Pietro in Tuscania is composed of twenty-eight columns that support the ceilings. Here we can find some notable paintings such as a Madonna Enthroned among Angels and a fresco, dating from the fourteenth century, representing the patron saints of Tuscania: Veriano, Secondiano and Marcelliano.

In 1971 a strong earthquake caused severe damage in Tuscania and its monuments, St. Peter's church suffered severe mutilation but, thanks to the patient and scientific work of restoration, it could return to its former glory.
So love the pov and repeating arches. Gorgeous!

So glad that it was restored. We have nothing as magnificent in the west part of this country.
