Its a different kind of sport I know, but CFA running is as competitive as most traditional sports. My youngest son competes most Saturdays over the summer months and he loves it.
Two of my boys used to compete in the Junior Fire Brigade events, and thoroughly enjoyed it, one is still in the CFA - actually got presented with a 20 year award last year for (obviously) 20 years in the brigade.
