Waves in the Gulf of Mexico by tskipper

Waves in the Gulf of Mexico

We went to the Mardi Gras parade today at the beach. You have to be at the parade early just to find a parking spot. We arrived about 2-1/2 hours early and still had a 10 minute walk to the parade route. I took the opportunity to take a few shots of the waves. We are in the middle of winter here, but that didn't stop some tourist from jumping in and going for a swim. The yellow flag was flying. Swim with caution. The locals know better than to get in the Gulf with waves like this.
Lovely.

@alisonp @timandelke @cimes1 @jenniferruge @bkbinthecity Thank you all for commenting on the wave shot at the beach. Some days the water is flat and it's beautiful then, too.

@rob257 Thanks Rob for the FAV! Yes, those waves are powerful. In the summer you have to be careful of the undertow.
