The turkeys roost on top of the chook pen. Recently they left this chosen roosting site and came in to roost on a pergola in the garden where a hen and her half grown poults roost. Last night Grandad decided enough was enough and chased the whole lot back out to the chook house where they belonged. Not a good decision. This morning one very distressed individual has returned to the house with a dead poult in his hand to report the death and advise another of the half grown poults was missing. Monday he found the culprit - on big carpet snake curled up under a pile of roofing iron with a huge bulge in his middle - the missing poult we would presume.
