I have wanted to try light trails for a while now, and knew this would be a good spot, but it was not somewhere I wanted to be alone at night (not that it is a bad area) apart from a few joggers making their way to the lakefront there are not too many people around. So it was great to have @taffy with me, and as it was my first attempt she had some handy pointers. I played about a bit in post processing, and was not sure what edit to put up, but in the end I went with this one.
Look's like a pro made these light trails and not a first timer! Really like this, the colors in the sky are great, the lights and starburst street lights are all great. Love it!
Stupendous. I can't believe this was your first attempt! You nailed it. I love the story points of light and the buildings as well. Beautifully composed.
@btwebb Thanks Barbara. It is easier than it looks. Most importantly make sure you have a tripod. I shot this in manual mode, I also used manual focus (with it being so dark I knew auto would have trouble finding what to lock on to) I started with my settings at iso100, f11, and shutter speed at 3 seconds then I just experimented with different aperture and shutter speeds from there. I think a lot depends on the ambient light as to what settings work best.
