Normally I see all kinds of butterflies around my place, I have all kinds of photos of them from previous summers...but now that I need one that I just took...WHERE are the butterflies? I can not believe that I have not been able to shoot one yet this year. Well, today, I decided these little guys just might be my only butterfly shot for the year so I went for it.
I think this is the same butterfly I took a picture of last week! If it is, it's called a Skipper butterfly or Skipperling butterfly. Beautiful colors and love the motion of the wings!
i know what you mean! i've been on the hunt for butterflies too and have only seen one that i was able to photograph.
I LOVE the color in your shot here Vicki!
It has been the same for me. Other years when I wasn't pursuing photography I would see butterflies on many of the wildflowers that grow around my house as I cut the grass, but this year they have been virtually nonexistent even on our butterfly bush. My recent ones I captured on the OBX.
@vickisfotos - Last year was our first time there. I have heard many people talk about going there and seen many many cars with "OBX" stickers on them. Now that we have gone there we have fallen in love with it. It, being a tourist attraction of course, is pricey to live and stay there. It's best to visit, if at all possible, during the off season when the prices come down.
@skipt07 great advice! my husband will retire in Nov, so we plan on some trips soon. Up until now, most of our travel has been international because of time limits on his time. Hop on a plane, fly there and get back. Once retired, we plan on road trips with no deadlines to get back.
I LOVE the color in your shot here Vicki!
