Devil's Tower by 365karly1

Devil's Tower

Home and partially unpacked! Now I can catch up on your images. Thank you for your attention to my photos during our vacation.

Devils Tower is a 264-meter (867-foot) rock formation in northeastern Wyoming. Devils Tower is made of phonolite porphyry. Phonolite porphyry is an igneous rock, meaning it was formed as magma or lava cooled. As the magma that formed Devils Tower cooled, it condensed into columns.
Isn’t it awesome? We found a little side road to park on to get a decent photo. It was hard for me to photograph. I could not get the sky and Tower to be their true colors in the same photo.

@terryliv That's right, Terry!

@mave Both caused by volcanic action so I guess they are similar. I had to look up the Giant's Causeway - very interesting!

What a fantastic formation. Reminded me of Fingal's Cave on Staffa.
