I came across this little cutie yesterday in the branches of a Japanese maple. I had no idea who this was, so I asked for help in identifying him /her from an online birding group. These people really know their birds! Believe it or not, this is a "black-throated blue warbler," so named for the colours of the male. The female is olive brown! She also has a white square on her wing, which distinguishes her from other female warblers (as I was told). Another wonderful discovery!
@lynnz Hi Lynn, the red leaves are pretty well that colour with the Japanese maple (but they do look especially red in this photo). They are not a sign of autumn- fortunately :)
