All well kite up hooks baited long line out dogs having a wonderful time however the float for kite was to light so we were reeling it back in motorised reel to add weights to float , next thing I knew was I was face down in the water about 6" arms outstretched wondering what had just happened as I was about to put more weights on, next I saw was Keith chasing a car the long line was caught underneath yes they had just driven over it I ended up with the back of my right hand cut tendons exposed and left thumb base of the same but oh boy I also had welts on my back and tummy so got all packed up travelled about 30mins to Kaitaia Hospital ,
where I might say the staff were wonderful I was still wet covered in sand offered and given a shower then a cuppa for us both with bickies , Dr arrived all he said tourist ran over your long line he was quietly angry as see this more than he cares for simply because tourist think it a road first and not a beach .
I ended up with 5 stitches in both hands and on antibiotics needless to say fishing is out now for a while .
Oh, Dawn! I am so terribly sorry! I hope you are not in a lot of pain and that you will have a quick recovery. I’m assuming the doctor thinks everything will be all right.
Oh Dawn, I hope you are feeling much better today. Some people are just inconsiderate and have no spatial awareness. As someone whose Hubby fishes from the beach - I understand as there are some real idiots out there.

Oh wow thanking you all for lovely kind words and thoughts I feeling heaps better today ,yes keith ran and caught up with the car which was still dragging the reel , and yes gave then a talking too reminding them it was a beach first .
