(No birds were hurt in the making of this picture!)
Pink is 99% house cat, but she does like to go out in the mornings for a brief while. My other cats, of the indoor/outdoor variety, hardly take notice of the doves, so it was all-the-more amazing to see how she instinctively reacted in this instance. I grabbed my camera and shot from the doorway, but when I stepped out to get a better angle, I spoiled all the fun and the dove flew away.
As an aside, "Pink" gets her name from the A.A.Milne poem, "Pinkle Purr", about "...a little black nothing of feet and fur..."
always so funny, louise. i always say it's easy to capture human emotions but it's different with animals. and you do that beautifully. i love your cat photos - and i'm not even a cat person =)
What a nice, plump kitty! Glad that the bird escaped :o). I took 5 goat photos and cropped down 2 of them, the others were a little blurry. It is very amusing to stand and watch the babies play :o)
Great capture Louise! I love it when cats do the hide and watch thing. Too bad dogs just bark and charge after their prey...lol...at least that is what my little guys do.
What a great capture, Louise! I have three indoor/outdoor cats. I would love to be able to catch the "in the act" of hunting! Unfortunately, I just find the remnants of their hunting ventures - both birds and rodents - in my house.
Oh...sorry...it's just a similar picture of Jordan with the Squirrel Crasher in the corner of the photo. I just thought it was funny since you've been taking pics of the squirrels. One last attempt...try this site. It's my blog that I don't do much with. http://thesheridanavenueboys.blogspot.com/2010/03/squirrel-crasher.html
Lovely pic Louise, I'm glad no birds were hurt! They're my fav, though I do like squirrels too, we used to have them pinching the bird feeders when i lived in England, but haven't seen any here in France, I miss them so it was good to see your pics.
Awwww, I love it, Louise. I no longer have outside cats, but I see this same pose from my Himalayans when a bird gets near the windows. I love your description of Pink's name ... "a little black nothing of feet and fur." Adorable.
...that line is out of the poem, a favorite of mine since childhood. If you love a cat, this poetry comes with my highest recomendation...A.A. Milne is the author of Winnie the Pooh.
lol such a cool shot
